E. Joseph Duckett and Jeffrey L. Pierce

E. Joseph (Joe) Duckett Ph.D., P.E. has more than 50 years of experience in environmental regulation, research, engineering, management and teaching. He has a Doctorate in Environmental Engineering from Drexel University and Masters Degrees in Environmental Health (University of Pittsburgh) and Business Administration (Drexel). He is a registered Professional Engineer in 6 states and has authored and/or presented more than 90 publications. 

He has been an active member, and often committee chair, of the Air & Waste Management Association, American Society for Testing & Materials and the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania. He is an appointed member and past chair of Pennsylvania’s Air Quality Technical Advisory Committee.

He has taught environmental health and emission control for the past 25 years and is currently an adjunct faculty member within the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering. 

He and his wife Joellen live in Pittsburgh PA, with frequent children and grandchildren visits. 

 

Jeffrey L. Pierce, P.E. has almost 50 years of experience in environmental and renewable energy engineering. He has a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and California. He has made more than 100 presentations on environmental and energy topics at technical conferences in the United States and Asia.

He played a major role in the implementation and design of the world’s largest landfill gas fueled power plant (1986), the world’s largest coal mine methane power plant (2008), and the world’s largest renewable natural gas plant (2021). The aggregate total of these, and other waste methane utilization projects, have avoided in excess of the equivalent of an estimated 100 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions from the atmosphere.

He currently resides in Torrance, CA, after relocating from Pittsburgh, PA in the mid-1980’s.
